Meeting at KUCCPS HQ

Zambia’s Student Financing Agency Visits KUCCPS to Pick Lessons on Integration of Student Placement and Funding Processes

KUCCPS hosted a delegation from Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB), Zambia, which is in Kenya for a benchmarking visit focused on higher education placement and student financing.

The session, held at KUCCPS offices in Nairobi, brought together representatives of HELSB and Kenya’s Higher Education Loans Board (HELB). Discussions centred on system integration and data sharing, and how collaboration between the agencies supports students transitioning to higher education.

Data sharing helps strengthen the student journey by enabling relevant agencies to access information on students’ placement to universities and colleges, and available financing options. Students placed by KUCCPS in public universities are eligible to apply for government scholarships and HELB loans, subject to the applicable requirements.

KUCCPS shared insights on its Placement Management Information System (PMIS), which supports key processes including course selection, applications, placement and student transfers. The delegation also learned about the system’s role in managing institutional capacity and course declarations, as well as automated student-data verification.

The agency also showcased its Career Expert System, which helps students explore study and career options. By considering a student’s interests, learning style, preferred work environment and values, the system provides personalised guidance to help them identify pathways suited to their strengths and aspirations.

The visit provided the HELSB delegation with an opportunity to learn about KUCCPS’ automated processes and career guidance programme, and to exchange ideas on approaches that support effective student placement and financing.

The engagement reinforces KUCCPS commitment to equitable, fair and efficient placement services, and its standing as a respected institution nationally and internationally.
