KUCCPS Issues Final Call as Application Portal Closes at Midnight; Over 1.4 Million Slots Available in Universities and Colleges
Nairobi, May 6, 2026 – Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome, wishes to issue a final, urgent reminder to all Form Four leavers that the application portal for universities and colleges will close today, May 6, 2026, at 11.59 pm.
KUCCPS wishes to reassure all 2025 KCSE candidates and their parents that there is ample space for every student. This year, the Placement Service has opened applications for 508 different institutions across the country, including public and private universities and TVET institutions.
With a total combined capacity of over 1.4 million slots (322,396 in universities and over 1.1 million in TVET institutions), every student, regardless of their grade, has an opportunity to pursue higher education.
Urgent Warning on Incomplete Applications
Of the 268,714 Kenyan citizens who attained a minimum grade of C+ in the 2025 KCSE examination and are therefore eligible for university placement , 207,308 (77%) have submitted applications as of today, 6th May 2026, 8.58am.
However, Dr. Wahome has noted a critical issue with pending applications. "Many students have selected their courses and placed them in the “Course Basket” but have not clicked the final submission button," said Dr. Wahome. "Adding programmes in the basket is not an application. You must complete the process and submit your choices before the midnight deadline to be considered in this first round of placement."
Emphasis on Technical Programmes
Referencing the 2025 KCSE results where technical subjects like Drawing and Design, Music, Electricity, and Woodwork saw a pass rate exceeding 80%, Dr. Wahome strongly encouraged students to take advantage of the vast opportunities in technical programmes.
Second Revision Window
For those who may not meet today’s deadline or fail to secure their initial choices, there will be a second chance: "No student will be left behind. Following the closure of the portal tonight, we will process applications and then re-open for a Second Revision from May 16th to May 22nd, 2026, for those who may need to adjust their choices."
All eligible students are urged to finalise their applications immediately at students.kuccps.ac.ke. Dr. Wahome also takes the opportunity to thank KUCCPS staff for their dedication during this peak period. "I want to sincerely appreciate our technical staff who have been all over the country for the last month supporting Kenyans with their applications, as well as our ICT team for ensuring the system remains robust and available for this massive exercise."
