KUCCPS SPONSORSHIP IN RUNNING CLEAN & WINNING RIGHT MOUNTAIN RUN
The Placement Service participated in a colorful award-ceremony for the 4th Edition of Tinderet Barng’etuny Mountain Run National Championship at Kapsabet Stadium in Nandi County. The event brought together Government officials, top athletics from Athletics Kenya, sponsors of the event and other stakeholders. The Principal Secretary, State Department for Sports, Mr. Elijah Mwangi presided over the colorful award-ceremony for the 4th edition of Tinderet Barng’etuny Mountain Run, National Championship at Kapsabet Stadium in Nandi County.
KUCCPS has been a sponsor to the race for three consecutive years contributing to the overall success of the mountain run. This year, the cash awards amounted to Ksh. 5.2 million that was awarded to Tinderet Barn’getuny Runners from position 1 to 10; men and women categories. Position No.1 received Ksh. 500,000/- plus a pedigree heifer worth Ksh. 250,000/- Position 2 and 3 received Ksh. 200,000/- and Ksh. 100,000/- respectively and sheep valued at Ksh. 10,000 each.
Hon. Elijah Mwangi was accompanied by Nandi Deputy Governor H.E Dr. Yullita Mitei, host MP Tinderet, MP Hon. Julius Melly, Chesumei MP Hon. Biego Paul Kibichy, Mr. Rodgers Chimega, Chief Advisor to the CS Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports and Senior County and National Government officials. Tinderet Barng’etuny Mountain Run remains a singularly significant race in Athletic Kenya. Famed for its demanding training regime, the race has over the year’s nurtured exceptional excellence among the athletes. “I am happy with the growing popularity of Tinderet Mountain Run which has seen the event gain international recognition and attract elite mountain runners from across the world.” PS Mwangi.
Since its inception in 2022, the race has birthed global champions in Mountain Running events. In 2023, Patrick Kipngeno was crowned No.1 in Thailand, Bangkok. In 2024, Fredrick Domongole was No 1 in Austria. The Mountain Run Patron, Hon. Melly gave a vote of thanks noting, “I especially want to acknowledge the commitment and discipline by the Tinderet Mountain Runners for promoting clean sporting, Run Clean, Win Right.”
