The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service is a statutory body established by the Universities Act of 2012 to coordinate the placement of government-sponsored students to universities and colleges, among other functions.
It has implemented various ICT systems that have ensured that the student placement process is smooth, fair, transparent, accountable, credible and without undue delays.
It is the second time that the Placement Service has earned recognition for providing ICT solutions in the academic sector, having bagged the Academic Solutions Excellence Award in 2014.
According to ICTAK, the awards seek to recognise, promote and commend the achievements of Kenyan ICT professionals and organisations so as to encourage local practitioners to develop innovative and creative ICT solutions.
Nominations for the 2015 awards opened on September 1, 2015 and closed on November 15, 2015.
